Spring Flowers Needle Book

I just finished making this needle case, I really liked the way it turned out. This is the outside cover before I pressed it closed. It's made from wool felt that I bought at Wool Felt Central and and DMC embroidery floss.

Here's a close up of the flowers on the cover.

There are a bunch of pages, some with pockets, some with strips of alternating colors.

Easter...a Little Early

I love Victorian era Easter and Spring images. I have some antique postcards with the most adorable scenes of baby chicks and children and bunnies, love them! I wanted to make something for Easter using some of the wool that I've recycled and felted myself. This is what I came up with. I copied an image a while ago, from somewhere online but when I searched for it I couldn't find the website in order to buy the pattern. So I did the best I could without a pattern.

Vintage Quilt Top Christmas Stockings

An antique auction treasure! Take a look at these three stockings I found in a field box, I think one has civil war fabrics in it, love it!

What do you think?

Gearing Up For Homeschool 2nd Grade..woot!

I've been scouring the web, looking for new sources for our upcoming school year. So far, we'll be using
Easy Peasy 2nd Grade as our general daily outline. I love that she has everything all laid out in a daily format. I can see as Maria gets older, her being able to do this a little more independently.

We're also going to continue with extra math practice here. She really enjoys uncovering the prizes on the game board.

We also participate in two different Christian co-ops, which is so so so great. She is taking four classes on Thursday afternoons and on Wednesday afternoons she participates in a drama class, which is great fun, while learning team building working in a group and community service projects.

We're also going to schedule in weekly a library visit and incorporate a reading list. Anybody have a good grade 2 reading list?

Our worst subject, needing the most work is handwriting..ugh!
